Hurricane Sagas

I'm going to be a spoiled brat for a few minutes. I am currently sitting in a crowded Panera restaurant with an instrumental version of Play that Funky Music playing merrily overhead and the remnants of a yummy lunch beside me. Normally I would be nothing but happy with food and my computer, but this visit was forced upon me by the lack of electricity at my house.

Now, I know that there are tons of people in the world who are much worse off than I am right now but at the moment I feel alone in my electricity-less life. We've been out since Monday afternoon and I've been freezing and bored ever since.

Tuesday there was a ray of hope. The outage update from the electric company said they expected us to be restored by 3:00 that day. Hooray! But, 3:00 came and went and I was now sad, cold, and still bored. When I went to bed that night the houses across the street were lit up like Christmas trees as I tripped over air with my flashlight.

The outage update was changed to "as soon as possible", by the way.

Today, another flicker of hope! There were dozens of utility workers and trucks on the block behind our house. I adored them. I texted pictures of them to all my loved ones. I proposed marriage.

Then they left.

Without. Fixing. My. Electric.

And here I sit.

Sunday Social!

Sunday Social

1. What do you value most in life?
My family and friends. Everything I have and achieve is because someone believed in me, loved me, inspired me, or listened to me.

2. What do you think is the greatest achievement in your lifetime and why?
The iPhone. I'm obsessed with it.

3. What do you think is the secret to a good life?
I think you have to be who you are. Pretending to be someone you are not is exhausting and how can you be happy if you are constantly having to remember the personality you created?

4. What would you most like to be remembered for when you are gone?
I want people to remember how I made them feel. Hopefully, that will be a positive memory.

5. What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of?
I wish I could say I was proud of earning my Master's degree, but that is still a work in progress. So, I will say that I am proud of making a major life change and moving/starting over in a new state.

6. If a movie was made about your life, who would you want to play you?
We have no resemblances but I guess I would pick Amanda Seyfried because she's just beautiful and so talented.

It's OK Thursday: Saturday Edition!

So I just saw this link-up and I L-O-V-E it.

Its Ok Thursdays

It's OK...

...that I am not writing this on a Thursday.
...that I have a stack of 6 books and 12 magazines that I haven't read yet. I will.
...that I complain about taking classes, but secretly enjoy it.
...that mean girls can still hurt my feelings. I recover faster now.
...that I just posted my first tweet ever this week.
...that I really want to be The Pioneer Woman.
...to feel so accomplished every time someone likes my Facebook status.
...to like doing nothing on a Saturday night. I like being home.
...to not feel bad about eating tater tots and mozzarella sticks for dinner.

Fall Fotos

So, I suck at writing in this blog with the exception of Sundays. So, in an effort to NOT have all my posts happen on Sundays, here are some of my favorite fall photos that I have shot from the past 2 weeks. And yes, this is what I do on Saturday nights. I'm awesome.

Cheers!

Sunday Social: All About Reading!

Sunday Social

1. Favorite childhood book: Without a doubt, the Sweet Valley High series! I think that I read every one that was published up until I turned 18 (ok, maybe a few after that as well...).

**And after reading other Sunday Social posts, I suddenly remember other books I was OBSESSED with as a child:

2. Favorite book lately: Unfortunately, during the school year my reading level decreases to kindergarten. Or I get engrossed in a teaching how-to book. My reading for pleasure either disappears or has to be something I can finish in a weekend afternoon. I have issued beginning a book and not finishing it. I've been reading a lot of quick, so-so, chick-lit books lately. I love a good chick-lit book, but I have fallen in love with any of them. The last book I devoured was The Hunger Games, especially the 1st and 2nd one.

3. Book you wish you could live in: NOT The Hunger Games!:) I am going to cheat and just say any book set in the South. Books always make me fall in love with southern hospitality and beauty, even though the humidity would make me murder someone.

4. If you could be any character from a book who would it be and why: Back to Sweet Valley High - I just loved Elizabeth and really wanted to be her. Can't escape childhood. Especially in the grown-up version where she is living in New York now as a writer- LOVE!

5. Favorite book turned into movie: I would have to go with a kid's book because I think they ruin most adult books. So, I'll go with The Polar Express. It was beautiful in the book and the movie.

6. Favorite magazines: I get a lot right now because I was offered free subscriptions for 3 months for about 6 magazines! But, the only one I normally subscribe to is Glamour. I do like Reader's Digest as well, though.

Hurt

I'm feeling sad and abandoned by people who were never really there to begin with. The saddest part is that I bring it onto myself and I put my hope into the wrong people. The people that have proven and earned my loyalties and trust are usually the ones I take for granted. The ones who have hurt me are the ones who get the majority of my thoughts. I need to find a way to refocus.

Sunday Social: All About Fall!!

Sunday Social

I. Love. Fall.
I just love it. My best friend from college once referred to it as the season of death, but to me it is a season of new beginnings. The whole world changes color. Here are some pictures of my fav fall things. I am a visual learner. :)

The return of football and The Terrible Towel...

Everything just instantly gets a little more country...

A return to all things cozy...

Switching to clothes that I forgot I loved...

Those mornings when there is a chill in the air...

All things pumpkin (and apple)...

Cutie-pies...

It's just pretty...

And fun...

Hee hee. :)
